Nirmala contradicts Centre, says special status will come to AP

Vijayawada, April 26, 2015: Contrary to Government ruling out special status to AP in Lok Sabha a few days ago, Union Minister Nirmala Sitaraman said here today the Centre is committed to implement its promise on granting special status to the state. Addressing a press conference here, she said the Government will not go back on its promise on grating special status to the state. Some states are questioning the proposed granting of special status to the state. "Tamil Nadu is very specific on the issue. It is questioning the Centre on what base AP would be accorded special status," she said, adding that Government will try to overcome all these hurdles. The Centre has so far released Rs.2203 Cr for the construction of Capital city, she said. "The TDP is under pressure on the issue and we know it very weel. Hence, we are not faulting TDP leadership," she observed.
