HYDRAA’s Action Against Encroachments Praised by Telangana High Court
The Telangana High Court praised the Hyderabad Disaster Response and Asset Protection Agency (HYDRAA) for playing a crucial role in removing illegal constructions that obstruct traffic on city roads. The court appreciated HYDRAA’s efforts to transform Hyderabad into an environmentally friendly city. Justice B. Vijaysen Reddy, heading the bench on Thursday, stated that HYDRAA’s services were essential in the removal of unauthorized structures.
In Ramnagar, Hyderabad, a commercial complex had been constructed illegally by encroaching upon Manemma Street. The local Residential Welfare Association lodged a complaint with the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC). Acting on the complaint, GHMC sought HYDRAA’s assistance. Officials subsequently demolished the illegally constructed commercial building at Jamistanpur Ramnagar Crossroad, thereby clearing the obstruction to the main road in Ramnagar.
However, the builder of the demolished commercial complex approached the High Court, challenging the demolition of the structure. During the hearing of the petition, the bench made the above remarks. The court clarified that public interest should be given greater importance than private interests. The bench adjourned the case to a later date for further hearing.
