IPS Officer’s Mentorship Helps Eight Poor Students Become Government Teachers
Once infamous for factional conflicts, a village in the Rayalaseema region has now made history with a transformation. Replacing knives and sickles with books, the youth of Kappatralla village in Devanakonda mandal of Kurnool district have achieved remarkable success. In the recently announced DSC-2025 recruitment, eight  from this village have been selected as government teachers. This success is the result of an initiative sown a decade ago by an IPS officer, which has now borne fruit and given the village a new identity.

IPS officer Ake Ravi Krishna, now the Chief of EAGLE (Elite Anti-Narcotic Group for Law Enforcement), adopted Kappatralla village in 2015 when he was the Superintendent of Police of Kurnool district. He believed that true change would not come merely by building roads and infrastructure, but by transforming the mindset of the people. He focused on education and employment opportunities for the youth. When the government announced the Mega DSC recruitment recently, Ravi Krishna identified 15 youths from the village who had completed their D.Ed. training.

He created a WhatsApp group titled “DSC-2025” and personally guided them. For over a year, he held regular discussions with the aspirants and conducted fortnightly Zoom meetings. Sharing his own experiences of preparing for the Civil Services Examination, he gave them strategies and constant encouragement. His close monitoring and motivational efforts resulted in eight of them securing government jobs. Significantly, all these candidates come from poor families and studied in Telugu-medium government schools.

Since Ravi Krishna adopted Kappatralla, the village has witnessed rapid progress. With the support of the Telugu Association of North America (TANA), a “Stree Shakti” building was constructed at a cost of ₹40 lakhs. A marriage hall and farmers’ community buildings were established with donors’ contributions. Through the “Save Trees” organization, 60,000 fruit saplings were distributed free of cost to farmers. Women’s groups were supported financially to enable their development. Ravi Krishna’s wife, Parvathi Devi, has also actively participated in these initiatives, extending support to local women.

The successful candidates expressed their joy, crediting their achievement to Ravi Krishna. “It is because of the encouragement and planning given by Ravi Krishna sir that we achieved this success. Coming from poor families, becoming government teachers is possible only because of him,” said selected candidates Sriramulu, Rajeshwari, and Uttej Goud. Others, moved with emotion, shared that their parents who once worked as migrant labourers now have tears of happiness in their eyes. Ravi Krishna’s efforts have transformed the image of Kappatralla village and set an example for many.
