HC fumes at TS for seeking time for GHMC polls, says it will write to CEC
Hyderabad, April 16 ,2015: Expressing ire at the TS Government for seeking again time of six months to conduct GHMC elections, the High Court of Judicature at Hyderabad on Thursday threatened to write to the Election Commission of India asking it to take steps to conduct elections to the civic body.
"You are seeking more time to conduct elections every time you are coming to the court. If you are not ready to conduct the elections, we will interfere and ask the Central Election Commission to do the job," the apex court of the state asked the Government lawyer in an angry tone.
Reacting to the request of the state government to give it another six months to conduct the elections as the number of divisions are being increased from 150 to 200, the court said:"Does the law permit you to seek time like this each and every time? We will decide on Monday whether you need that much time to conduct the elections."
