National Honor for AP Nurse: Subhavathi Receives Florence Nightingale Award

Valiveti Subhavathi, a nurse from Andhra Pradesh, has been conferred with the prestigious National Florence Nightingale Award for her exceptional services in the medical field. The award was presented to her by President Droupadi Murmu at a grand ceremony held yesterday at Rashtrapati Bhavan in New Delhi.

Valiveti Subhavathi currently serves as an Auxiliary Nurse Midwife (ANM) at the Kurnool Regional Health and Family Welfare Training Centre. Over her 29-year career, she has rendered dedicated service in the healthcare sector. Even after her retirement, she continued contributing as a medical education training officer, working to raise public awareness about health issues. Notably, she wrote and sang a song highlighting the importance of health, which she widely promoted to educate communities.

This year, a total of fifteen nurses from across the country were honored with the National Florence Nightingale Award, which recognizes outstanding contributions in nursing and public health.

The event was attended by Union Minister of Health and Family Welfare J. P. Nadda, along with several senior officials from the ministry. Along with the award, Subhavathi received a commendation certificate and a cash prize of one lakh rupees from President Droupadi Murmu.

On this occasion, J. P. Nadda congratulated all the award recipients. “The entire nation salutes the selfless service of nurses,” he said. He praised nurses as the backbone of India’s healthcare system, emphasizing their critical role in saving countless lives every day. “Their services are invaluable and their dedication is commendable,” he added.
