TN leaders flay AP over encounter killings
Chennai, April 7: Leaders of several political parties in Tamil Nadu today skammed the killing of 20 persons in Andhra Pradesh in police firing for allegedly being involved in red sander smuggling. DMK patriarch M. Karunanidhi said incidents of smuggling and police firing were happening for quite some time. He blamed both the state government for their the failure in handling the situation that ultimately led to the loss of 20 lives. “At least now both the governments should wake up to the situation and take remedial measures to prevent similar incidents in the future,” he said. PMK leader S. Ramadoss said though there was no doubt that those who were behind felling and smuggling of red sander should be brought to book, the actions of the AP police was unjustifiable. Claiming that no warning was issued before firing, TNCC president E.V.K.S. Elangovan said suspicion arises over the action of the AP police officials.
