More Legal Woes for Former MLA Vallabhaneni Vamsi Despite Bail

Former Gannavaram MLA Vallabhaneni Vamsi continues to face a series of legal challenges. Although he secured bail in one of the cases against him, a fresh PT (Prisoner Transit) warrant issued in another matter has extended his incarceration, confining him to jail for the past 95 days with indications that his imprisonment may continue further.

The complications trace back to allegations from the 2019 election period, wherein Vallabhaneni Vamsi was accused of distributing fake housing deeds in Gannavaram to influence voters. At that time, he was part of the ruling party, and the police informed the court that Vamsi had no involvement. However, the case was not closed. With recent political developments, particularly the return of Telugu Desam Party (TDP) leader Yarlagadda Venkata Rao to the party, the situation evolved. Police have now included Vallabhaneni Vamsi's name in the First Information Report (FIR), asserting his role in the alleged scam. In connection with this, the Hanuman Junction police from Bapulapadu have filed a PT warrant in the Nuzvid court. A hearing on this warrant took place on Friday, and there is a likelihood of Vamsi being produced in court.

Currently, Vallabhaneni Vamsi is lodged in the Vijayawada District Jail under judicial remand due to his arrest in the Satyavardhan kidnapping case. In addition to this, PT warrants have been filed in connection with multiple other matters, including an attack and vandalism incident at the TDP office in Gannavaram and an alleged encroachment of private land. While the High Court has granted him bail in the land encroachment case and the Vijayawada court has done the same in the kidnapping case, proceedings in the TDP office vandalism case are ongoing. Arguments from the Crime Investigation Department (CID) have concluded, and the court has reserved its judgment.

Meanwhile, another legal complication appears to be emerging over alleged illegal soil excavation activities in Gannavaram. An investigation by the Vigilance and Enforcement Department has reportedly uncovered multiple irregularities. This report has been submitted to the state government. With indications of involvement from the mining and other departments, it is believed that the government may hand over the matter to the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) for further inquiry. Should that occur, a new case against Vallabhaneni Vamsi seems imminent.
