Pakistan is Our True Friend, We Will Continue to Stand by It in the Future: Turkish President Erdoğan

Amid growing backlash in India against Turkey for its support to Pakistan during India's recent "Operation Sindoor," Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan made significant remarks reaffirming his country's alliance with Pakistan. He stated that Pakistan is a true friend of Turkey and emphasized that Turkey will continue to support Pakistan in the future as well.

These statements came as Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan congratulated Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, who had earlier thanked Turkey for its role in facilitating a ceasefire.

"My valued friend Shehbaz Sharif… the fraternal bond between Turkey and Pakistan is a testament to true friendship. Only a few countries in the world are capable of sustaining such a relationship," said Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. He expressed that just as Turkey desires peace and stability within its own borders, it also wishes the same for Pakistan. He stated that Turkey appreciates the Pakistani government's approach of prioritizing dialogue and compromise for resolving disputes.

"As we stood by Pakistan during times of both good and bad in the past, we will continue to stand by it in the future. Long live Pakistan-Turkey friendship!" Erdoğan declared. Notably, he referred to the Pakistani Prime Minister as a "valued friend" during this announcement.

Meanwhile, during India’s "Operation Sindoor," which targeted terrorist bases in Pakistan, Islamabad retaliated with drone strikes. During this period, Turkey extended complete support to Pakistan. Reports suggested that in addition to drones, Turkey even sent a warship and provided military assistance. In light of these developments, there is significant opposition within India against Turkey for aiding what is considered a hostile nation. A widespread "Boycott Turkey" campaign is being promoted on social media.
