Jagan Files Petition in High Court Seeking Restoration of Z Plus Security

YSRCP President Y. S. Jagan Mohan Reddy has filed a petition in the Andhra Pradesh High Court seeking the restoration of Z Plus category security. The petition was submitted yesterday, following his claim that the security cover provided to him was drastically reduced after the change in state government, despite a continued threat to his life.

In the petition, Y. S. Jagan Mohan Reddy requested the court to instruct both the central and state governments to reinstate Z Plus security in accordance with the established protocol, considering the risk to his personal safety. He specifically asked for comprehensive protection at his residence and office, deployment of trained security personnel, and the provision of a fully operational bulletproof vehicle. In the event the government is unable to provide such a vehicle, he appealed to be allowed to use his own bulletproof car.

Y. S. Jagan Mohan Reddy urged the High Court to direct the central and state authorities to immediately deploy security forces such as the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) or the National Security Guard (NSG), given the imminent threat to his life.

He expressed dismay that his security was curtailed significantly without any prior notice or warning following the change in government. He further stated that, despite submitting multiple representations to both the central and state governments regarding threats to his life, no action had been taken, which left him with no option but to approach the High Court.

According to the petition, the current security arrangement assigned to him is merely symbolic, and the bulletproof vehicle allocated is malfunctioning. Y. S. Jagan Mohan Reddy alleged that he has received threats of physical harm from leaders associated with the ruling coalition. He recounted that during various public visits, the state government failed to provide even minimal security; for instance, during his visit to the Guntur Mirchi Yard, not a single constable was deployed for protection.
