Nara Lokesh Oversees MoU Signing with Schneider Electric
In a significant move aimed at securing a brighter future for the youth of Andhra Pradesh, the state government has entered into a memorandum of understanding with Schneider Electric India Foundation. The agreement, focused on enhancing skills relevant to the growing sectors of electronics, green energy, and construction, was formalized under the initiative of Nara Lokesh, Minister for Information Technology, Education, and Electronics.
Under this agreement, Schneider Electric will establish a total of 20 state-of-the-art training laboratories across government Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs), polytechnic colleges, and National Academy of Construction (NAC) training centers in the state. The project will span from April 2024 to March 2027. These labs will provide training in modern electrical systems, solar energy equipment, and industrial automation technologies.
Approximately 9,000 youth will receive training aligned with global standards and tailored to industry needs. Schneider Electric India Foundation is investing nearly ₹5 crore to supply training equipment, consumables, and digital learning resources for these centers. The foundation will also assist in job placement for candidates who complete the training programs.
In response to a request from Minister Nara Lokesh, Schneider Electric has reportedly agreed to set up a 'Schneider Electric Centre of Excellence' in Mangalagiri with an estimated cost of ₹15 crore. Additionally, the company plans to establish a research center in Anantapur and initiate a pilot project on 'Modern Power Optimization' in Alluri Sitarama Raju district to modernize electricity usage.
To support the success of this initiative, the Andhra Pradesh State Skill Development Corporation (APSSDC) will provide necessary infrastructure and raise awareness among students about the importance of the training programs, encouraging their active participation.
For this training initiative, the selected centers include four NAC locations (Amaravati, Kuppam, Digital Community Bhavan–P.M. Lanka, Chittoor), nine government ITIs (Araku, Rajahmundry [Women], Narsipatnam, Nuzvid, Ongole [Boys], A.S. Peta, Karvetinagaram [Women], Kadapa [Minorities], Srisailam), and seven government polytechnic colleges (Srikakulam, Guntur, Anantapur, Chandragiri, Nandyal, Gannavaram, Ongole).
