Amalapuram: The Andhra Pradesh government has made a decision to drop the cases that were filed in connection with the Amalapuram riots case. On Tuesday, the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, YS Jagan, reviewed the matter with his ministers and officials, and they decided to withdraw the cases. In May 2022, a dharna was organized in Amalapuram by the Konaseema Zilla Sadhana Samiti. The protest turned violent, with agitators setting fire to the house of Minister Vishwaroop and MLA Satish, as well as setting buses on fire. Additional police forces were called in from other areas to control the riots in Amalapuram. There were allegations at the time that the riots were deliberately planned.
