Rahul Gandhi, a leader of the Indian National Congress party, has agreed to vacate his government bungalow in Delhi following his disqualification as a Member of Parliament (MP). He was given notice to vacate the 12 Tughlaq Lane bungalow by April 23, after being disqualified as an MP 24 hours after being convicted by a Surat court on Friday. In response, Rahul Gandhi wrote a letter to the Lok Sabha secretariat, stating that as an elected Member of the Lok Sabha for the last four terms, he owes his happy memories of the time spent in the bungalow to the mandate of the people. He also stated that he will abide by the details contained in the eviction notice without prejudice to his rights. Rahul Gandhi had occupied the bungalow since 2005 and debuted as an MP in 2004. He was convicted in a criminal defamation case over his alleged 'Modi surname' remark in 2019 by the Surat district court
