Hyderabad: Senior Congress leader Renuka Chowdhury has announced that she plans to file a defamation case against Prime Minister Narendra Modi for allegedly referring to her as 'Surpanakha' during a 2018 parliamentary session. Chowdhury expressed her belief that PM Modi favours North India over South India and intends to consider all factors before filing her complaint regarding being referred to as Surpanakha. Earlier, in a tweet, the former Union minister shared a video clip of the incident in which Modi requested the Rajya Sabha chairman to let Chowdhury continue speaking, which was followed by laughter. This event occurred shortly after the Ramayana TV series was aired. Chowdhury expressed interest in seeing how the courts will handle her complaint.
