Telangana Government Issues Guidelines for New Ration Cards

The Telangana government has announced guidelines for issuing new ration cards in the state. According to an official release, the issuance of new ration cards will commence from January 26, a long-anticipated move aimed at addressing unresolved applications. This decision is expected to provide relief to thousands of families who have been waiting for years to obtain their ration cards.

The selection of beneficiaries will be carried out in accordance with the recommendations of a cabinet sub-committee. After a thorough verification of applications, a list of families without ration cards will be compiled based on data from the caste census survey. This list will be forwarded to the respective District Collectors and the GHMC Commissioner for field verification.

At the mandal level, Mandal Parishad Development Officers (MPDOs) will oversee the process, while in Urban Local Bodies (ULBs), municipal commissioners will be responsible. Once the draft list of ration card beneficiaries is prepared, it will be displayed and read out in gram sabhas and ward meetings. Only after obtaining approval from these local bodies will the final ration card list be issued.
