Producers oppose begging rally, ask distributors not to harass Rajini
Chennai, Feb 17, 2015: Taking strong objection to the decision of the loss-suffering film distributors and theater owners to launch begging rally from the residence of super star Rajinikanth seeking compensation for their 'Linga' losses, the Tamil Nadu Film Producers Council (TNFPC) has made it clear that the super star was in no way responsible for their losses. In a statement released to the media here this morning, The TNFPC said it is not correct for the distributors to harass Rajinikanth with such a rally. "Rajinikanth films had always brought immense profits and several distributors have made huge benefits in the past. We strongly condemn these attempts to harass the actor and the producer Rockline Venkatesh," said the statement. Describing the attempts of the distributors as unethical, the apex film body of Tamil Nadu has said these issues have to be settled amicably with talks across the table. While distributors have sought a compensation of Rs. 35 Cr, Rockline Venkatesh has come forward to compensate ten percent of the said amount.
