Woman commits suicide during police counseling

Visakhapatnam, October 20: A married woman committed suicide in the premises of a police station in Visakhapatnam on Thursday.
 
According to police, Sravani (30) of Guntur was married to Vinay of Vizag four months ago. Since the beginning, there were conflicts between the couple and Sravani complained to the police on Wednesday. Police asked them to come to police station on Thursday morning for counseling.
 
SI Srinivas was giving counseling to the couple. Sravani went out speaking over phone and tried to commit suicide by pouring petrol on her. Police became alerted and tried to stop the fire. SI Srinivas received burn injuries on hand. 
 
Sravani, with severe burn injuries, was rushed to a private hospital. There she died while undergoing treatment. Police informed her family members and took the husband into custody.
 
A case was booked and investigation is on.
