Russians fight for sugar packets in supermarket; video goes viral

New Delhi: Normal life in Ukraine came to a standstill due to war, but it seems Russians, too, are feeling the heat as they are reportedly facing a shortage of essential commodities. It is well known that the international community imposed severe sanctions on Russia.

The impact of sanctions imposed by various countries fell on almost all sectors in Russia. In some places, there is a huge shortage of essential commodities. A video is now going viral on social media where scores of Russians fighting for sugar packets in a supermarket in Russia.

Sugar prices in Russia are skyrocketing due to inflation. Shopkeepers imposed restrictions on sugar sales due to shortage. It was decided to sell only 10 kg of sugar per person. With that, young and old alike competed with each other for the sugar packets available in the supermarket.

Russian officials say there is no shortage of sugar in the country and people are unnecessarily worried and resorting to panic buying. Hence, that led to skyrocketing prices in some places and the unavailability of sugar in other areas.
