In a heartfelt address during the Special Session of Parliament from 18th to 22nd September 2023, Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi commemorated the 75-year parliamentary journey of India. As the proceedings prepare to move to a new edifice, the Prime Minister reflected on the history and significance of the Old Parliament Building. Originally serving as the Imperial Legislative Council, it later became the Parliament of India post-independence. Modi highlighted that while the decision to construct the building was taken by foreign rulers, it was Indian effort, dedication, and funding that brought it to life. Over the past 75 years, he said, this building has been central to India's evolving democratic traditions. The Prime Minister remarked on the global recognition of India's achievements, attributing them to 75 years of collective parliamentary effort. Comparing the shift to a family moving homes, Modi expressed the emotional significance of leaving the old building behind. He fondly recalled his initial moments as an MP, reflecting
