Odisha: A major train mishap was narrowly avoided when a Memu train managed to avert disaster near Baruna Singh Chhak at the Nilgiri Road railway station in Odisha's Balasore district on Tuesday. According to initial reports, the Memu train unintentionally entered a loop line track where construction work was underway. However, catastrophe was averted due to the presence of a vigilant loco pilot, who sensed something amiss and acted promptly, applying the brakes just in time. The train was en route from Bhadrak district to Balasore when the alert loco pilot noticed an error at the track endpoint and immediately brought the train to a halt. Swiftly, the train was safely reversed, causing a brief disruption in the movement of other trains on the route.
