Udayagiri MLA Mekapati Chandrasekhar Reddy revealed his intention to join the Telugu Desam Party (TDP), along with two other MLAs from Nellore district. Reddy made the announcement during a meeting with Nara Lokesh, a prominent TDP leader, in Atlur, Badvelu constituency of the YSR district. The meeting took place as Lokesh's padayatra, a foot march, was entering Udayagiri, Nellore district. Reddy expressed his support for the padayatra and vowed to ensure its resounding success in his constituency. Speaking to the media following his meeting with Lokesh, Reddy discussed the current political landscape at length. He extended an invitation to Lokesh, recognizing the significance of the padayatra reaching Udayagiri. Reddy expressed his determination to make the padayatra a triumph in his own constituency. Reddy further revealed that he had met Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy on multiple occasions in pursuit of a ticket but received no favorable response.
