Odisha: In a devastating incident that has shocked the nation, a goods train in Odisha ran over a group of workers who were seeking shelter from a powerful storm near Jajpur-Keonjhar Road station. The tragedy unfolded just days after another train accident in the same state. The incident resulted in the loss of six lives, while two individuals sustained severe injuries, according to official reports. The contractual workers, employed by a railway contractor for maintenance work, had taken refuge under a stationary rake (without an engine) to protect themselves from the intense wind and rain caused by a 'Norwester' storm. However, due to heavy thunderstorms, the monsoon reserve rake rolled, leading to the tragic accident.
