While jogging back to his seat, he lost his balance and fell, but was promptly assisted by an Air Force officer and members of the US Secret Service. Concerned onlookers witnessed the incident, including members of the official delegation on stage. Despite the fall, 80-year-old Biden, the oldest US president in history, quickly recovered and resumed his seat for the remainder of the ceremony. White House communications director Ben LaBolt took to Twitter to confirm the President's well-being, explaining that the stumble occurred due to a sandbag placed on stage to support the teleprompter.
