Hyderabad: KT Rama Rao, the working president of BRS and Telangana's Industry Minister, has voiced concerns regarding the fate of southern states in the upcoming delimitation exercise in 2026. Rao expressed worry that despite their successful population control efforts, the southern states may lose Lok Sabha seats. Rao urged leaders and citizens across party lines to join forces and raise their voices against this perceived injustice. He highlighted the growing apprehension among southern states that they could face a disadvantage in representation due to the delimitation exercise's population-based approach. The Industry Minister emphasized that the southern states have been exemplary performers in various aspects since India's independence. He argued that their contributions to the nation's GDP far exceed those of their northern counterparts and, therefore, they should not be penalized for their effective population control measures. The proposed delimitation exercise is expected to result in an increase in seats for states such as Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal, and Maharashtra,
