Chittoor: Wild elephants trampled two people to death in Andhra Pradesh's Chittoor district, near the Tamil Nadu border. The incidents occurred in the villages of Mallanur and Sappanikunta, both under Kuppam mandal. According to reports, a woman named Usha was attacked by two elephants while on her way to the Mallanur railway station. In a separate incident, a farmer named Shivalingam was trampled to death by a jumbo while returning home from his fields. The elephants caused panic among the villagers as they went on a rampage near human habitations. The animals had entered Andhra Pradesh from Tamil Nadu, where they had already killed a farmer a week ago. The Tamil Nadu forest department personnel drove the elephants towards Andhra Pradesh.
