YS Sharmila, the Chief of the YSR Telangana Party and sister of Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy, was detained today after allegedly manhandling police personnel during a protest. Congress leader Renuka Chowdhury reacted to YS Sharmila's arrest, daring the Telangana Police to file a case against her as well. Chowdhury criticized the state police, citing a recent incident in which Nelakonda Police in Khammam district allegedly filed a false case against her without any substantiated evidence. She referred to them as "nonsense fellows". Without mentioning the name of YS Sharmila, the Telangana Congress senior leader mockingly questioned the state government's lack of courage to file a case against her. Chowdhury alleged that there was some secrecy behind the lack of action against her.
