A 41-year-old Odia woman, Madhusmita Jena Das, who lives in the United Kingdom, has become an online sensation after running a remarkable 42.5-kilometer distance as part of the Manchester marathon, all while draped in a beautiful red Sambalpuri saree and orange sneakers. The video of the same has gone viral. Das, a high school teacher in Manchester and a member of the North West England Odia community, completed the marathon in an impressive four hours and fifty minutes. News of her achievement quickly spread on social media platforms such as Twitter, with several users, including 'Friends of India Soc Intl UK,' sharing her story. Das has participated in numerous marathons and ultra-marathons all around the world. However, this is her first time completing the challenging distance in a saree, which is a traditional Indian attire worn by women.
