Visakhapatnam: Former CBI JD Lakshminarayana urged workers, intellectuals, and refugees to unite and oppose the privatization of the Vizag Steel Plant during a padayatra organized by the Visakha Steel Conservation Committee. He expressed his belief that a unified movement is necessary to convince the Centre to withdraw its decision to privatize the plant. JD Lakshminarayana further added that he will participate in the bidding for the Vizag Steel industry on behalf of the people. Lakshminarayana criticized the Centre for its contradictory statements regarding the privatization of the steel plant, stating that the government is confusing the public with mixed messages. He emphasized that the Visakha steel industry should remain under government control and that the bidding for privatization should involve the government's participation. Lakshminarayana also remarked that the padayatra is just a small glimpse of the resistance to come. He warned that if the Centre continues with its privatization policy, the people will show their defiance.
