A Bengaluru man, Ramesh Naik, was recently granted legal justice by the consumer court after a three-year-long legal battle against the Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC). Naik had filed a complaint against BMTC after he was denied Rs. 1 in change during a bus ride in 2019. The incident occurred when Naik took a BMTC bus from Shantinagar to Majestic bus depot. The conductor issued a ticket worth Rs. 29, and Naik paid Rs. 30. However, he did not receive the Rs. 1 change from the conductor, which led to him filing a complaint seeking compensation of Rs. 15,000. After a prolonged legal struggle, the district consumer court recently ruled in favor of Naik and ordered BMTC to pay him Rs. 2,000 in compensation along with an additional Rs. 1,000 towards legal fees.
