India made history in the third and final match of the ODI series against Sri Lanka, as they secured a massive 317-run victory in Thiruvananthapuram. This is now the largest victory by runs in ODIs, breaking New Zealand's previous record of 290 runs. India opted to bat first and posted an impressive score of 390/5 in fifty overs. Sri Lanka's run-chase was cut short as they were only able to score 73 runs in just 22 overs. The Indian team was led by a stellar performance from Virat Kohli, who smashed an unbeaten 166 off 110 deliveries, including 13 fours and 8 sixes. Opener Shubman Gill also had a strong game with a score of 116 off 97 deliveries and a 131-run partnership with Kohli. Kohli's performance also saw him surpass Sri Lankan great Mahela Jayawardene's 12,650 ODI runs and enter the top five all-time run-getters. He is now only three centuries behind Sachin Tendulkar's all-time record of 49 centuries.
