On Tuesday at the Barsapara Stadium in Guwahati during the opening game of the three-match series against Sri Lanka, Virat Kohli reached a remarkable milestone by scoring his 45th ODI century. By accomplishing this milestone, he also tied Sachin Tendulkar's record for the most ODI hundreds at home; both players have 20 centuries. In addition, Kohli scored his first ODI century at home since his previous one against Australia in March 2019. It was Kohli's second consecutive ODI century, though, following the one he scored against Bangladesh at Chattogram's Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium. Against Sri Lanka, Kohli also surpassed Sachin Tendulkar's record for the most hundreds in a one-day international match. Against the Islanders, Kohli scored his ninth century despite Tendulkar's eight hundreds.
