With a journey on one of the most breathtaking tracks through the Alps, a Swiss railway company on Saturday claimed the title of the longest passenger train in history. The 1.9-kilometer-long Albula-Bernina train, made up of 100 carriages, was operated by the Rhaetian Railway company between Preda and Bergün. The route, which crosses 48 bridges, including the curving Landwasser Viaduct, and passes through 22 tunnels, some of which wind through mountains, was named a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2008. The CEO of Rhaetian Railway, Dr. Renato Fasciati, stated: "We have a jubilee of 175 years of Swiss Railways, and this world record endeavor ought to be one important event of this jubilee."
