At a party conference in Chennai, a DMK speaker went on the attack, making offensive remarks about women leaders of the Tamil Nadu BJP, including actor Khushbu Sundar. As a result, Kanimozhi, the face of the ruling party, issued an official apology. Saidai Sadiq, the speaker, continues to make mockery of Khushbu and three other BJP leaders, including actor Namitha, Gayathri Raghuram, and Gautami, claiming that the saffron party is solely relying on these "actresses" to gain support in Tamil Nadu. Many Twitter users questioned the DMK's position on the matter and enquired as to whether the party shared Sadiq's viewpoints. Khushbu, who previously belonged to the DMK and the Congress before joining the BJP in 2020, denounced the statement on Twitter. In her response to Khushbu, Kanimozhi apologised to her for the statement made by a party leader and stated that the party leadership does not support such opinions.
