Chilakaluripeta, May 13: Tension prevailed for some time when police prevented former TDP minister Prathipati Pulla Rao from re-launching NTR Sujala Sravanthi scheme here on Friday. A heated argument broke between TDP leaders and police. Protesting against cops, the TDP workers staged a dharna on the road. In previous TDP rule, APNRT and NTR Trust Bhavan have provided funds for the scheme. Borewells were dug and water tanks were constructed in Chilakaluripeta and its surrounding villages after taking permission from concerned authorities. Before the launch of the scheme, the YSRCP government came to power. Today, Prathipati arrived for relaunching the scheme. But municipal authorities informed police that the scheme has no permission from the state government. Later, Rao broke a coconut and declared scheme was relaunched.
