Hyderabadi Khichdi


1.Rice soaked 2 cups
2.Masoor dal soaked for 30 minutes
3.Bay leaves
4.Pepper corns
5.Cinnamon stick
7.Pepper corns
9.Green chillies
10.Onions sliced
11.Salt to taste
12.Turmeric powder
13.Ginger garlic paste
14.Curd (optional)
15.Pudina leaves
16.Coriander leaves


1.Heat some oil in a pan,add whole garam masala and fry for a minute.
2.Add green chillies,onions,salt,turmeric,ginger garlic paste and saute till raw smell goes off.
3.Add curd and mix well,add soaked rice,masoor dal and mix it well.Add 3 cups of water to the pan.
4.Sprinkle some pudina,coriander leaves and bring it to boil.Give it a stir in between and cook till done,by covering with a lid.
5.After done drizzle some ghee and stir gently,cover and cook for another few minutes.Switch off the flame and serve hot.
