Punjabi Chicken Curry


1.Chicken 750 grams
2.Ghee 3 tbsp
3.Oil 2 tbsp
4.Bay leaves 2
5.Green cardamoms 3-4
6.Black cardamom 1
7.Cinnamon stick 1 inch
8.Cloves 3-4
9.Pepper corns 3-4
10.Onions 3 large
11.Ginger paste 1 tbsp
12.Garlic paste 2 tbsp
13.Red chilli powder 2 tbsp
14.Coriander powder 1 tbsp
15.Turmeric powder 1/4 tbsp
16.Tomatoes 2 chopped
17.Salt to taste
18.Curd 1 cup
19.Garam masala powder 1 tbsp
20.Coriander leaves 2 tbsp


1.Take a non stick pan add some ghee and melt it,add bay leaves,cardamoms,pepper corns,cinnamon,cloves and onions,saute till golden colour.
2.Add the ginger paste,garlic paste,red chilli powder,coriander powder and turmeric powder,saute for 2 minutes.
3.Add tomatoes,salt and saute for another 2 minutes.Add the chicken pieces and saute on high heat till slightly brown colour.
4.Add curd and cook until mixture becomes dry.Add 2 cups of water and mix well.Cover and cook till done.
5.Sprinkle some garam masala powder and cook for another 2-3 minutes.Garnish with coriander leaves and serve hot.
