Urad Dal Kachori

Urad Dal Kachori


1.Maida 2 cups
2.Salt to taste
3.Baking soda 1/2 tbsp
4.Oil for deep frying
5.Urad dal(Split black gram)
6.Butter 3 tbsp
7.Ginger finely chopped
8.Green chilli finely chopped
9.Asofetida a pinch
10.Turmeric powder 1/2 tbsp
11.Red chilli powder 1 tbsp
12.Cashew nuts roughly chopped
13.Kismis 1 tbsp


1.Heat a non stick pan pour 1 tbsp oil and heat it.
2.Add asofetida,turmeric powder,red chilly powder,cashew nuts roughly chopped,chopped ginger,raisins(kismis) and mix well.
3.Add soaked urad dal to this mixture keep stirring in between until the urad dal becomes dry.Rest the mixture to cool.
4.Prepare a dough,add maida,butter,baking soda in a bowl and prepare a nice,soft dough.Cover it with a muslin cloth and rest the dough for 1 hour.
5.Prepare round balls from the dough and prepare a small chapathi,now place the mixture in the center of chapathi and bring the edges together and pinch them hard together and prepare a small ball by pressing gently in your palms this is called kachori.
6.Take a pan pour sufficient oil for deep frying,heat it.
7.Gently drop the kachoris in hot oil and fry for 10-15 minutes on both the sides till golden brown and crisp.
