Black Eye Peas Masala


1.Alasandalu 1 cup soaked overnight and pressure cooked for 2-3 whistles
2.Oil 4 tbsp
3.Onion chopped 2
4.Tomato chopped 1 1/2
5.Ginger garlic paste 1 tbsp
6.Cumin powder 1/2 tbsp
7.Coriander powder 1 tbsp
8.Dry mango powder 1/2 tbsp
9.Cumin seeds 1 tbsp
10.Mustard seeds 1 tbsp
11.Red chilli powder 1 tbsp
12.Garam masala powder 1/2 tbsp
13.Salt to taste


1.Take a pan pour some oil and heat it.
2.Add mustard seeds allow them to pop up.
3.Add cumin seeds and saute till they change colour.
4.Add onion chopped saute till light brown colour..
5.Add ginger garlic paste and saute till raw smell goes off.
6.Add coriander powder,cumin powder and fry for another 2 minutes.
7.Add dry mango powder and saute for a minute.Add tomatoes chopped and mix well.
8.Add stock 1 cup to the fried mixture and cook.Cover and cook for 3-4 minutes.
9.Remove the lid,add red chilli powder,garam masala powder and mix well.Cook till oil separates.
10.Add boiled black eyed peas and mix well,Adjust salt and give it a mix.Add remaining stock,cover and cook on medium flame.Cook for another 10 minutes.Cook till done.Serve hot.
