1.Maida 1 cup
2.Ravva 3 tbsp
3.Pinch of salt
4.Oil 2 tbsp+deepfrying
5.Coconut grated 2 cups
6.Sugar 1 1/4 cup
7.Kova 1 cup
8.Cardamom powder 1/4 tbsp
9.Poppy seeds 1 1/4 tbsp
10.Ghee 1 tbsp


1.Heat 2 tbsp oil in a pan.
2.Add in maida,ravva,salt and mix well in hot oil.
3.Keep on adding little amount of water and prepare a dough.
4.Knead the dough till it becomes stiff.Cover the dough and keep aside for 30 minutes.
5.Heat another pan on medium heat,add coconut and cook for 4-5 minutes.
6.Add sugar,dry fruits and mix well.Cook for 2 minutes.
7.Add kova,cardamom powder and give it a good mix.
8.Take 1 tbsp oil and knead the dough smoothly.
9.Take small amount of dough and roll it like thin poori.
10.Add the filling and start close the edges by making folds and gather it at center and close to form a peak.
11.Meanwhile heat sufficient oil for deep frying,now slowly drop the modaks in hot oil and deep fry till golden colour.
