1.Rice 2 cups
2.Urad dal 1 cup
3.Poha 1 cup
4.Salt to taste
5.Oil 1 tbsp
6.Sugar to taste


1.Wash and soak rice for 8 hours.
2.Wash and soak urad dal along with fenugreek seeds for 8 hours.
3.Wash poha and soak in water for 5 minutes.
4.Now combine poha,rice,urad dal,fenugreek seeds and grind coarsely.
5.Store batter in a pan,cover and leave it to ferment overnight till the batter double in size.
6.Add salt,oil to the batter and mix well.
7.Grease idly trays with some oil and pour batter in it,place the idly tray in idly container with enough water and steam for 15-20 minutes.
8.Remove the idly trays and rest for 5 minutes and serve hot with sambar or coconut chutney.
