Tindora Rice


1.Rice 1 cup
2.Ivy gourd sliced 1 cup
3.Oil 3 tbsp
4.Cumin seeds 1 tbsp
5.Bay leaves 2
6.Biryani masala 1 tbsp
7.Ginger garlic paste 1 tbsp
8.Turmeric powder 1/4 tbsp
9.Red chilli powder 1 tbsp
10.Onion 1 finely chopped


1.Wash and soak rice in water for 20 minutes.
2.Wash ivy gourd very well and then cut the edges and cut into round coins.
3.Heat up oil in a pan,add in cumin seeds and bay leaf.
4.Add onions and saute till translucent.
5.Add ginger garlic paste,turmeric powder and mix well.Cook for a minute.
6.Add ivy gourd and mix well,add rice and 2 cups water and mix well.
7.Add red chilli powder and biryani masala powder,salt to taste and mix well.
8.Bring it to boil on high heat,after boiling lower the heat and cook for 3-4 minutes.
9.Cook for another 20 minutes on low flame till done.Serve hot with garnished coriander leaves and scraped coconut.
