Mattar Paneer


1.Green peas
2.Tomatoes 3 medium
3.Paneer 1/2 lb
4.Pinch of asafoetida
5.Cumin seeds 1 tbsp
6.Bay leaves 2
7.Cinnamon stick 1/2 inch
8.Ginger chopped 1 tbsp
9.Coriander powder 1 tbsp
10.Turmeric powder 1/2 tbsp
11.Chilli powder 1/2 tbsp
12.Paprika 1/2 tbsp
13.Salt to taste
14.Sugar 1/2 tbsp
15.Corn flour 1 tbsp


1.Cube the paneer into 1/2 inch pieces and deep fry them on medium heat,fry till golden color.Drain onto a paper napkin,drain excess.
2.Mix corn flour with 3 tbsp water and keep aside.
3.Blend tomatoes and ginger into a paste.
4.Heat up oil in a pan,add in hing,cumin seeds,bay leaves and cinnamon stick and fry for few seconds.
5.Add the tomato paste,coriander,turmeric powder,chilli powder and paprika.Cook until the mixture reduces to half.
6.Add the green peas and 1/4 cup of water,cook on medium heat pan should be covered.When the peas are tender,add the salt and paneer.
7.To thicken the gravy add corn starch mix.Cover the pan and let it cook for 3-4 minutes.
