Moong Dal with Spinach


1.Moong dal 1 cup
2.Spinach 2 cups chopped
3.Ginger shredded 1 tbsp
4.Turmeric powder 1 tbsp
5.Salt to taste
6.Garam masala powder 1/4 tbsp
7.Lemon juice 1/2 tbsp
8.Butter 2 tbsp
9.Butter 2 tbsp
10.Cumin seeds 1/2 tbsp
11.Pinch of asafoetida
12.Red chillies whole
13.Red chilli powder 1/4 tbsp


1.Wash dal thoroughly with water.
2.Take a pressure cooker add in spinach,ginger,turmeric powder,salt and water.And close the cooker.
3.Cook over medium high till dal comes to boil.Now reduce the heat to medium and let it boil for about seven minutes.
4.Off the stove and let the pressure go by itself.
5.Adjust the consistency of dal to your desire taste, adding boiled water as needed and mix it.Add lemon juice and salt.
6.Take a pan pour some ghee and melt it.Add in cumin seeds,asafoetida,whole red chillies and saute for few seconds.Add red chilli powder and pour over dal.Serve hot.
