Gatte Ke Kadhi


1.Besan flour 1 1/4 cup+ 1 tbsp
2.Red chilli powder 1/2 tbsp + 1/4 tbsp
3.Salt to taste
4.Turmeric powder 1/8 tbsp + 1/4 tbsp
5.Curd 3 tbsp + 1 cup
6.Oil 3 tbsp + 2 tbsp
7.Cumin seeds 1 tbsp
8.Mustard seeds 1/2 tbsp
9.Asafoetida 1/8 tbsp
10.Red chillies 4 whole
11.Bay leaf 1
12.Black cardamom 1
13.Paprika 1/2 tbsp
14.Coriander leaves 2 tbsp


1.Mix all the ingredients in a mixing bowl and make soft dough. A little amount of water can be used if needed.Divide the dough into 4 or 5 parts and roll each one between your palms
2. You will need to oil your palms to prevent the dough from sticking.Bring 3 cups of water to a boil in a large pot. Gently drop the Gatte
logs into the boiling water and cook until they begin to float up to the
3.Remove the cooked Gatte logs from the water and let them cool.Slice them into small pieces.
4.Mix yogurt and gram flour into a smooth paste.Add turmeric, chili powder, and coriander powder to the yogurt paste.
5.Heat some oil in a pan on medium heat.Add the cumin seeds, mustard seeds, and asafetida.
6.Add whole red chilies, bay leaf, cardamom, and paprika and stir for a few seconds.
7.Pour in the yogurt paste and stir for 2 minutes.Add 3cups of water and stir until the gravy comes to a boil.Add salt.
8.Add the Gatte to the gravy, cover and let it cook on low-medium heat for 20 minutes.Turn off the heat.Add in coriander leaves and serve hot.
