Coconut Chutney


1.Coconut pieces 1cup
2.Chana dal 2 tbsp
3.Curd 1 cup
4.Salt to taste
5.Green chillies 2
6.Ginger 1/2 inch
7.Lemon juice 1 tbsp
8.Oil 1 tbsp
9.Pinch of asafoetida
10.Mustard seeds 1/4 tbsp
11.Red chillies 2
12.Curry leaves


1.Peel coconut and cut into small pieces,roast chana dal until light brown color,blend coarsely in a blender.
2.Add yogurt, green chilies and salt and continue blending into the paste.
3.Add coconut and some water and blend into a smooth paste.
4.Adjust salt and pepper,Use lemon juice to adjust the sourness and blend well.
5.Heat oil in small pan, when hot, add black mustard seeds and wait till they crack.
6.Add asafoetida, red chilies and curry leaves.Pour the seasoning mixture over the chutney.
