Sweet and Sour Tofu


2.Red capsicum 1
3.Cabbage 3 cup sliced
4.Oil 3 tbsp
6.Roasted Cumin seeds 1 tbsp
7.Salt to taste
8.Turmeric powder 1/4 tbsp
9.Black pepper 1/4 tbsp
10.Red chilli powder 1/4 tbsp
11.Ginger shredded 1 tbsp
12.Brown sugar 1/4 cup


1.Soak tamarind in 1/4 cup of warm water for 15 minutes. Squeeze the tamarind mixture well.Remove the pulp and keep aside.
2.Add the remaining sauce ingredients to the tamarind pulp mix well and set aside.
3.Squeeze the Tofu gently keeping between your both palm.Cut the tofu into 3/4 inch cubes and pat dry.
4.Remove seeds from bell pepper and slice 1/4 inch thick lengthwise.Heat oil in a wide pan over medium heat. Stir fry tofu pieces until golden brown in color, approximately 2-3 minutes.
5.In the remaining oil, first stir-fry bell pepper for a minute and add cabbage continue to stir fry for 2 minutes.
6.Add tofu and tamarind sauce to the vegetables in the pan, stir well,cook on medium heat.Serve hot.
