Kanchi Idli


1.Rice (Dampuddu biyyam)
3.Urad dal
4.Pepper powder
5.Dry ginger
6.Baking soda
7.Salt to taste
8.Cashew nuts
9.Tempering seeds


1.Soak overnight raw rice,boiled rice,urad dal and blend it into a batter.
2.Now soak dry ginger in water for few minutes and drain the excess water in batter and mix well.
3.Now add baking soda,salt,pepper powder to the batter give it a good mix.
4.Take a pan pour some oil and heat it,add in chana dal,urad dal,mustard seeds,cashew nuts,saute for couple of minutes.
5.Pour the tempering mixture in batter and mix it well.
6.Take a pressure pan containing some water,pour some batter in small tea glasses and place it in a plate containing a bowl in pressure pan.
7.Pressure cook for 20 minutes without whistle.Gently remove idlies from glasses and serve hot.
