1.Moong dal soaked 2 cups
3.Dried red chilliles
4.Tempering seeds
5.Baking soda
6.Coriander powder
7.Putnala powder
8.Hing (asafoetida)
11.Turmeric powder
12.Curry leaves
13.Coriander leaves
14.Green chillies
15.Urad dal soaked 1 cup
16.Chana dal soaked 1 cup


1.Grind all soaked lentils into a blender and prepare a coarse paste.
2.Transfer the mixture into a separate bowl,add in salt,baking soda a pinch,mix well.
3.Take idly molds and pour moong dal mixture and prepare idlies,cook in a pressure pan till done.
4.Meanwhile take another pan pour some oil and heat it.
5.Add dried red chillies,peanuts,tempering seeds,chana dal,urad dal,saute till light golden color.
6.Add curry leaves,coriander leaves,coriander powder,green chillies,asafoetida and saute for few minutes.
7.Add roasted putnala powder and stir fry,add tamarind juice to the fried mixture.
8.Add jaggery,turmeric powder,bring it to boil,add in some salt give it a stir.
9.Add some water as we required,boil till oil separates from mixture.Mash moong dal idlies in a bowl,add in to boiling content.Mix it well.
10.Cook till done,transfer into a bowl,garnish with coriander leaves.Serve hot.
