Paediatric ICU upgradation project at the Niloufer Hospital
Hyderabad: India has been in the grip of a devastating second wave of the Corona virus since March 2021, with several cities in fresh lockdowns. The situation called for an urgent intervention to support the overwhelmed healthcare system.
HYSEA did just that. Without losing time, HYSEA chalked out a multi-pronged approach to help government hospitals to cope with the situation by tying up with its NGO partner NIRMAAN on the ground and reaching out to member companies to join their efforts. Key government hospitals were identified to augment staff, and critical lifesaving equipment and medicines. Home Isolation kits, Livelihood Restarter Kits, and Ration and Hygiene Kits were distributed to the needy.
As part of this initiative OpenText, offered its services to upgrade a 100-bed Pediatric ICU ward at the Niloufer Hospital. This support is critical now as we the third Covid wave threat is looming for children.
Today, Hon’ble Ministers, K. T. Rama Rao, Minister for IT, Industries, and Commerce, and Municipal Administration and Urban Development, and T. Harish Rao, Minister for Health and Finance formally inaugurated the Upgraded Pediatric ICU ward at Niloufer sponsored by OpenText.
Speaking on the occasion, the Hon’ble IT Minister praised OpenText and the IT Industry of Hyderabad for stepping up to support the overwhelmed healthcare system and hoped the efforts will have a lasting impact. World over he said, the pandemic has exposed the gaping inadequacies in the healthcare systems. While the government will work towards strengthening the medical infrastructure in the state, he called upon the IT Industry to help in this endeavour as part of their Corporate Social Responsibility.
The Hon’ble Health Minister said that, it is very important to upgrade the health infrastructure in government hospitals through the Government or donations. These donations will definitely help to serve people coming from many states, choosing to be treated at Niloufer, which is one of the largest Pediatric government hospitals in India. He appreciated the joint efforts of OpenText, HYSEA, and Nirmaan in supporting the Niloufer hospital to upgrade 100 ICU beds for children and making it fully functional.

Mr. Bharani K Aroll, President, HYSEA, speaking on the occasion, reiterated the support of the Industry to tide over this difficult period. He said, “HYSEA thanks around 40 member-corporates and countless individuals who have contributed more than 18 crores. The key focus for HYSEA and its NGO Partner NIRMAAN, has been to augment the ICU capacity both in the city and in the districts. The 150-bed ICU project in TIMS, 20-bed ICU upgradation project at the Fever hospital, 100-bed Pediatric ICU upgradation at the Niloufer Hospital, and the Rural ICU Project in various districts are steps in that direction. We aim to create a medical infrastructure that will serve the underprivileged people during and beyond the pandemic.”
Ms. Manisha Saboo, Center Head, Infosys & CSR Leader, HYSEA & Mr. Mayur Patnala, Founder & CEO, Nirmaan have exchanged MoU to support Niolufer Hospital by setting up a new ICU ward in the presence of Mr. Bharani K Aroll, President, HYSEA.
Mr. Mayur Patnala, Founder and CEO, Nirmaan Organization, speaking on the occasion, said Nirmaan has so far established 1700 ICU beds in 105 government hospitals in 5 States of India. As Covid created a long- impact, Nirmaan with the support of HYSEA and its member companies worked on the ground to develop critical medical infrastructure in government hospitals. He further shared that the support provided will be helpful to the hospital not only during Covid but also in the long-run.
