Andhra Pradesh Governor and Lady Governor receive first dose of Covid-19 vaccine

Vijayawada, March 02: Andhra Pradesh Governor Biswa Bhusan Harichandan and Lady Governor Suprava Harichandan received the first dose of Covid-19 vaccine in the third phase of the vaccination programme at New Government Hospital in Gunadala, Vijayawada, on Tuesday. Speaking after taking the vaccine, Governor Biswa Bhusan Harichandan said he did not feel any inconvenience and said every eligible person should come forward and take the Covid-19 vaccine as it is safe and helps in curtailing the spread of the coronavirus.  

Governor Harichandan said they were given the ‘Covaxin’ vaccine which is fully developed and manufactured in India. He said the Indian scientists have demonstrated to the world the country’s capability in the field of vaccine research and development and appreciated the scientists responsible for the development of the ‘Covaxin’ vaccine in such a short period of time and saving lives of the people. Doctors have advised the Governor and the Lady Governor that the second dose of the vaccine will be administered to them after March 30.

Jhansi, Nurse of the New Government Hospital administered the vaccine to the Governor and the Lady Governor under the supervision of Hospital Superintendent Dr K. Shiva Shankar. Mukesh Kumar Meena, Secretary to Governor, Krishna District Collector Imtiaz Ahmed, Dr Shyam Prasad, Vice-Chancellor of Dr NTR Health University, District Medical & Health Officer, Joint Director (Immunisation), Dr Rajesh and Dr Fatima, personal doctors of the Governor were also present on the occasion.
