Central team headed by Pravin Vashista, JS MHA toured flood affected areas in the City

Hyderabad, October 22: The Central headed by The officials led joint secretary Praveen Vasista  R.B. Kaul from the Finance Ministry, K. Manoharan from the Agriculture Ministry, S.K. Kushawaha from the Road Transport & Highways Ministry, visited Falaknuma ROB, Al-Jubail Colony, Ghazi Millat Colony, Kandikal gate Main road, Hfez Baba Nagar, and other flood effected areas.

While on inspection of the damaged ROB at Chandrayagutta, the team inspected restoration works of ROB and removal of Debris from Nala. the interacted with the flood effected people, where they apprised the floodwater entered to their houses even on the first floor and still the water in their houses at present. Since their houses in water for the past 10 days, the walls were got damaged. Commissioner GHMC Lokesh Kumar, Chief Engineer Ziauddin informed that the ROB was built 40 years ago, and aliened to the inner ring road and Charminar areas.

The GHMC officials informed that the water from Pally Cheruvu flows under ROB its width is 7 meters, with the heavy rains and increase in flood water the Palley Cheruvu got breached, and floodwater entered in Al-Jubail colony and Ghazi Millat  Colony other areas. The central team inspected the damages to properties, household articles, and Vehicles.  further, the team inspected roads and Drains which were severely damaged.  

Central team visited Kandikal gate inspected restoration works in Nala and at pool bagh, Chandrayan gutta interacted with flood effected victims, while Hon’ble MP Salaudin Owaisi apprised the extent of damage occurred due to floods and many houses were damaged and requested the Central to release more funds to take up relief works.

The team visited Balapur, Hafeez Baba Nagar, where due to breach of Palley cheruvu, Gurram Cheruvu the water from Balapur Cheruvu overflow, the houses got inundated, compound walls collapsed, furniture damaged and household items.

The team leader suggested for taking constructive work for a permanent solution to strengthen the cheruvus. The GHMC officials apprised the team that Hafeez Baba Nagar got inundated due to breach of Gurram cheruvu and water flow was 3-4 meters above road level and silt accumulated up to 1-1.5 mts. The GHMC officials informed that by deploying 171 JCBs,  627 Tractors, 30 Tippers are engaged to clear the above debris and silt.    

Later the team visited Gurram Cheruvu, where the breach occurred, and inspected temporary repair works. S.E.Irrigation Bhem Prasad apprised the precautionary measures taken for uninterrupted supply of drinking water and as per recommendations of the Central Vigilance wing restoration works will be taken up.  

Similarly, the team visited Palle cheruvu inspected the restoration works where the breach occurred, where the Commissioner, GHMc Lokesh Kumar informed to the team that due to the breach to Palle Cheruvu and heavy rains the floodwater entered Balapur Hafeezbaba Nagar areas, and with the efforts of official machinery after three days the intensity of flood brought under controlled.

Further, the team visited Appa Cheruvu, Nala at Gaganpahad, and inspected breach restoration works. With the breach of Appa cheruvu and flood in Nala, many houses in Gaganpahad inundated and many vehicles washed away due to floods.
